Job Duties:

  • Draft and prosecute patent applications in various technical fields.
  • Partner with the firm's team and in-house groups to develop and implement comprehensive global IP strategies.
  • Prepare opinions of counsel regarding patent validity, infringement, and enforceability.
  • Conduct due diligence investigations, freedom-to-operate analyses, and landscape assessments.
  • Engage in client-facing interactions to provide strategic IP counseling and advice.

Requirements:

  • A degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Must be a member of the U.S. Patent Bar.
  • Proven experience in patent drafting and prosecution is required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience, specifically in patent drafting and prosecution.

Skills:

  • Strong understanding of patent law and regulations.
  • Ability to analyze technical documents and communicate complex technical concepts effectively.
  • Proficiency in conducting patent searches and prior art analyses.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and analytical abilities.

Education and Certifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Physics, or related fields.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to practice law in at least one state, preferably North Carolina.
