Job Overview: A law firm seeks a skilled Trial Associate Attorney to manage and litigate personal injury cases. The ideal candidate will provide legal counsel, conduct research, and represent clients in various legal proceedings.

Job Duties:

  • Provide legal advice on personal injury issues by conducting thorough legal research and informing clients about case developments.
  • Analyze plaintiff’s and defendant’s positions and explain personal injury law concepts and actions to clients.
  • Develop personal injury cases by reviewing investigative findings, police reports, medical records, and reports from state and federal agencies.
  • Consult with experts, take and defend depositions, and complete the discovery process.
  • Prepare legal briefs and develop strategies, arguments, and testimony for personal injury cases.
  • Maintain case progress by following productivity and quality standards, resolving operational problems, and identifying process improvements.
  • Resolve cases through settlement negotiations, mediation, arbitration, or trial prosecution.
  • Plan, organize, and present arguments; engage expert witnesses; prepare and present evidence; examine witnesses; and deliver closing arguments to juries.
  • Improve case outcomes by studying, evaluating, and redesigning processes and implementing necessary changes.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Admission is in good standing at the North Carolina State Bar.
  • Admission in good standing to the South Carolina State Bar preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in North Carolina personal injury litigation.

Skills:

  • Excellent legal research and analytical skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication abilities.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple cases effectively.
  • Negotiation and mediation skills.
  • Trial preparation and courtroom experience.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Admission to the North Carolina State Bar.
