Job Overview:

A law firm seeks a skilled and motivated Civil Litigation Associate Attorney to join its growing team in Providence, RI. The successful candidate will work alongside experienced litigators on complex cases, including general liability, professional liability, and employment practices litigation. Duties:

  • Conduct comprehensive legal research to support case preparation and strategy formulation.
  • Draft, review, and file legal documents such as pleadings, motions, and settlement agreements.
  • Manage the litigation process for a variety of cases, from discovery to settlement or trial.
  • Negotiate settlements on behalf of clients while maintaining clear communication with all parties.
  • Prepare for and attend court appearances, organize case files, and gather necessary evidence.
  • Work closely with senior attorneys to strategize and assist in trial preparations.
  • Stay up-to-date with relevant laws and regulations, ensuring the firm’s cases are always in compliance.
  • Maintain meticulous records of case status, client communications, and evidence.
  • Collaborate with expert witnesses and other third-party resources to enhance case strategy.

Requirements:

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in civil litigation, particularly in insurance defense, personal injury, premises liability, employment law, or construction defect litigation.
  • A current Rhode Island Bar license (Massachusetts and/or Connecticut licenses are a plus).
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to independently manage a full caseload while meeting deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Capable of developing creative solutions to complex legal issues.
  • A self-motivated and proactive approach to legal work.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Active membership in the Rhode Island Bar (Massachusetts and Connecticut Bar licenses are a plus).

Certifications:

  • Rhode Island Bar license (Massachusetts and Connecticut Bar licenses are desirable).
