A law firm seeks a driven and results-oriented Associate Attorney to join its civil defense team in Saint Petersburg, FL. The firm specializes in medical malpractice and healthcare defense, representing clients on a national level. This role offers an excellent opportunity for an attorney looking to develop expertise in motion practice, discovery, oral arguments, and trial work within the healthcare defense sector.

Duties:

  • Assist with managing a caseload focused on medical malpractice and healthcare defense.
  • Engage in all phases of litigation, including drafting motions, conducting discovery, and preparing for oral arguments.
  • Participate in court appearances, including pre-trial conferences, hearings, and trials.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys to develop defense strategies tailored to client needs.
  • Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda on complex legal issues.
  • Work closely with clients, maintaining regular communication and providing updates on case progress.
  • Prepare for and participate in trials, offering support during trial preparation and in the courtroom.

Requirements:

  • At least 1 year of experience practicing law, preferably in civil defense or healthcare defense litigation.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, particularly in legal research, writing, and courtroom advocacy.
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time management skills.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active Bar license (Florida or eligible to be admitted).

Skills:

  • Proficiency in legal research tools and case management software.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and develop case plans.
  • Courtroom presence and the ability to confidently present oral arguments.
  • Team-oriented and collaborative, with a focus on achieving favorable results for clients.
