A law firm in Riverside, CA is seeking a Municipal Law Associate Attorney. The attorney will work on a variety of legal projects covering a wide array of practice areas within municipal law. They will provide expert guidance to clients, conduct legal research, draft briefs, analyze complex legal documents, and represent clients in court or before government agencies.

 

Duties:

  • Consult with clients and provide expert guidance on legal best practices within municipal law.
  • Research and analyze complex legal issues across various practice areas.
  • Draft briefs for submission to a Supervising Attorney(s).
  • Analyze and summarize complicated legal documents, including contracts, and suggest alterations.
  • Perform discovery of electronically stored data and hard copies of information in preparation for litigation.
  • Perform due diligence in legal matters concerning contracts and agreements.
  • Analyze probable outcomes of cases and develop strategies and arguments for presentation.
  • Represent clients in court or before government agencies.
  • Gather evidence and interview clients and witnesses to ascertain facts of a case.
  • Confer with colleagues with specialties in appropriate areas of legal issue to establish bases for legal proceedings.
  • Maintain communication with clients concerning representation as needed under the discretion of Supervising Attorney(s).
  • Perform administrative and management functions related to the practice of law.
  • Supervise Legal Secretaries and Paralegals as needed.
  • Complete special projects as assigned.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.

 

Requirements:

  • 2-7 years of related experience in municipal law or related practice areas.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree and a current license to practice law in the state of California.

 

Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in computer skills and competency with legal software and tools.
