Job Overview:

A national civil litigation and insurance defense firm is seeking an experienced Insurance Defense Attorney specializing in construction defect matters to join its Florida-based team. The ideal candidate will have 7+ years of experience handling civil litigation cases, including construction defect and insurance defense matters. Location:

  • Fort Lauderdale, Florida

Duties:

  • Handle civil litigation cases through trial, including taking depositions, presenting oral arguments, attending hearings, and negotiating settlements.

  • Manage client communications, providing timely updates on case status.

  • Independently handle appearances and assignments with minimal supervision.

  • Participate in settlement negotiations and provide strategic legal guidance to clients.

  • Maintain case files, research relevant legal issues, and prepare necessary documentation.

  • Ensure compliance with all procedural requirements in litigation and settlement processes.

Requirements:

  • 7+ years of experience in litigation and trial work, specifically in construction defect and/or insurance defense matters.

  • Proven proficiency in managing cases from inception through trial, including taking depositions and handling hearings.

  • Experience in negotiating settlements and providing client-facing support throughout the litigation process.

  • Strong ability to independently manage cases with minimal supervision.

  • Must be licensed to practice law in Florida (additional licensure in other states is a plus).

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Must be licensed to practice law in the state of Florida.

  • Additional state bar licenses are a plus.

Skills:

  • Strong litigation and trial skills, particularly in construction defect and insurance defense cases.

  • Expertise in taking depositions, conducting hearings, and presenting oral arguments.

  • Skilled in negotiating settlements and working directly with clients.

  • Excellent research and case management skills.

  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
