Job Overview:
An established law firm in Victorville, CA, is seeking a skilled Post-Conviction Relief Attorney to join its growing team. The ideal candidate will have previous litigation or appellate experience and will be responsible for managing a caseload, interacting with clients, and working alongside a dedicated team of legal professionals.

Duties:

  • Advise clients on their legal rights and prepare legal documents related to post-conviction relief cases.
  • Handle post-conviction relief matters, including motions to vacate, expungements, motions to reduce sentences, and early termination of probation.
  • Attend motion hearings and provide clients with strategic advice following each hearing.
  • Manage open criminal cases, including arraignments, pre-trials, pleas, and sentencing, as directed by other criminal attorneys.
  • Conduct court appearances, draft motions, interview clients, and perform legal research.
  • Analyze case outcomes using legal precedents and case-specific information.
  • Manage a caseload while ensuring that all deadlines and court requirements are met.
  • Provide legal analysis and advice to clients on potential benefits and strategies for their cases.

Requirements:

  • Experience in criminal defense or immigration law.
  • Proven experience handling criminal cases at the state and local levels.
  • Ability to collaborate with team members, strategize, and assist other associates.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred, but not required.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a focus on client service and communication.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in good standing with the California State Bar.

Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of post-conviction relief processes, including motions to vacate and expungements.
  • Strong criminal defense or immigration law experience.
  • Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
