Job Overview:
A prominent law firm in Houston, TX is seeking a Senior Immigration Attorney to join its growing immigration team. This role offers the opportunity to lead and manage complex immigration cases while working closely with clients and other attorneys. The ideal candidate will have a strong track record in immigration law, particularly in removal defense, family-based petitions, and detained cases. Location:

  • Houston, TX

Duties:

  • Represent clients in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA)
  • Manage a diverse caseload, including both detained and non-detained individuals
  • Conduct intake interviews with detained individuals at detention centers
  • Prepare and submit various immigration applications, including removal defense and family-based immigration petitions
  • Review immigration applications and make necessary adjustments
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community-based organizations on immigration law changes
  • Meet with potential clients for strategic consultations and determine appropriate immigration strategies
  • Develop case strategies and prepare clients and witnesses for court or USCIS testimony
  • Provide legal analysis to determine possible case benefits and risks
  • Prepare and submit legal briefs for a variety of immigration cases

Requirements:

  • At least 4 years of experience practicing immigration law
  • Proven ability to manage and advance a diverse caseload
  • Experience with family-based petitions, humanitarian cases, EOIR, detained cases, citizenship, and other USCIS applications
  • Strong record of moving legal cases forward with positive outcomes
  • High level of interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with clients, colleagues, and outside stakeholders
  • Team player with a collaborative approach to case strategy and management
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
  • Familiarity with case management software is preferred

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
  • Admission to practice law in Texas

Certifications:

  • Bar admission in the state of Texas

Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of immigration law and court procedures
  • Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills
  • Effective communication skills, both written and oral
  • Ability to work well under pressure while managing multiple priorities
  • Proficiency in legal software and technology
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
