A law firm in Chicago, IL, is seeking a Corporate Associate Attorney - Tax to join their cross-office tax and corporate transactional teams. The successful candidate will have at least 2 years of experience in U.S. federal income tax matters, backed by excellent academic credentials and strong written and oral communication skills.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-office tax and corporate transactional teams to deliver integrated legal support.
  • Provide expert legal advice on U.S. federal income tax matters related to corporate transactions.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate complex tax-related agreements and documents.
  • Conduct comprehensive tax research and analysis to inform corporate strategies and ensure compliance.
  • Structure transactions to optimize tax efficiency and adhere to federal regulations.
  • Manage client relationships, offering clear and effective communication regarding tax issues.
  • Stay updated on changes in tax laws and regulations, advising clients on their implications.
  • Participate in strategic discussions and planning for tax and corporate matters.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a law firm focusing on U.S. federal income tax matters.
  • Strong academic background with a JD from an accredited law school.
  • Proven experience handling complex tax-related legal issues and corporate transactions.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
  • High attention to detail and strong analytical skills.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.

Certifications

  • Admission to the Illinois Bar (or eligibility to obtain admission).
  • Certification or specialization in tax law is preferred but not required.
