Job Overview:
A prestigious law firm in Portland, OR, seeks a skilled Immigration Attorney with a focus on removal defense. This position involves representing clients in removal proceedings, including preparing legal documents, presenting cases, and providing relief options such as asylum or cancellation of removal. The ideal candidate will have at least two years of experience in immigration law and a passion for advocating for individuals facing removal.

Duties:

  • Conduct consultations with clients facing removal proceedings via in-person, video, or phone meetings. Evaluate their cases and recommend defense strategies.
  • Represent clients in immigration court, making compelling arguments for relief (e.g., asylum, cancellation of removal, adjustment of status, waivers).
  • Advocate for individuals in bond hearings, seeking release from detention and offering counsel on detention-related matters.
  • Provide ongoing support for post-order relief, including motions to reopen, appeals to the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA), and petitions for review in federal courts.
  • Manage cases, ensuring consistent client communication via email and phone.

Requirements:

  • Membership in the State Bar (preferably Oregon).
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in immigration law, with a focus on removal defense.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, with an ability to build relationships with colleagues and clients.
