Job Overview:
A prestigious law firm is seeking an experienced Data Privacy and Cybersecurity Associate Attorney with 5-7 years of experience. The firm offers flexibility in office location, with a preference for candidates in Chicago or Dallas, but other locations may be considered. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in privacy and cybersecurity litigation and transactional work, with expertise in vendor agreements, business customer service contracts, and a solid understanding of federal and state privacy laws. This role offers an opportunity to work on complex data privacy matters in a dynamic and supportive environment.

Location:

  • McAllen, TX

Duties:

  • Advise clients on compliance with privacy and cybersecurity laws
  • Handle privacy-related litigation, including class action cases
  • Draft, review, and negotiate vendor and business customer service agreements
  • Assist with breach response, risk management, and compliance counseling
  • Stay updated on changes in data privacy laws and regulations
  • Work closely with partners and clients to resolve privacy and cybersecurity issues
  • Contribute to client development and business opportunities
  • Participate in thought leadership initiatives related to data privacy and cybersecurity

Requirements:

  • 5-7 years of experience in data privacy and cybersecurity law
  • Significant experience in privacy litigation and transactional legal work
  • Strong knowledge of state and federal privacy laws, including CCPA, GLBA, HIPAA, and state biometric and health laws
  • Experience with breach response, compliance counseling, and risk management
  • Admission to the State Bar
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Admission to the State Bar
  • CIPP/US certification is a plus but not required

Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of privacy and cybersecurity laws
  • Proficiency in both litigation and transactional matters
  • Strong negotiation and drafting skills
  • Experience in managing breach response and compliance issues
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication abilities
  • Ability to handle complex matters and multiple clients
