A law firm seeks an Associate Attorney to join its bankruptcy practice in San Diego, CA. This role involves managing Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy cases, from client appointments to court appearances. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of working in a fast-paced environment with both autonomy and collaboration. Training and on-the-job support will be provided, with a preference for candidates who have experience or a strong interest in bankruptcy law.

Duties:

  • Prepare and review legal documents related to bankruptcy cases, including Bankruptcy Schedules.
  • Conduct client meetings to finalize and sign schedules for filing.
  • Draft correspondences, legal research, and other documents as needed.
  • Respond to client inquiries via phone and email, providing clear guidance and updates.
  • Attend court hearings and 341(a) meetings of creditors, representing clients as required.
  • Collaborate with the Trustee’s office and creditors on legal issues, engaging in negotiation and litigation as needed.
  • Focus on Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy cases, including means testing and drafting plans of reorganization.

Requirements:

  • Ability to manage client interactions professionally and handle multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Strong organizational skills, with attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for client communication and case management.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active California bar license preferred.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in legal research and document preparation.
  • Strong client service skills, with the ability to communicate complex information in an accessible manner.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
