Settlement Attorney

Job Overview: A law firm in San Diego, CA, seeks a Settlement Attorney to oversee multiple settlement teams and ensure compliance with legal regulations. The ideal candidate will manage legal document preparation, conduct research, and collaborate with various practice groups to enhance operational efficiencies.

Duties:

• Manage multiple settlement teams across various departments, supervising employees at different levels.
• Ensure compliance with state rules and regulations, including professional responsibilities related to fund distribution.
• Draft and prepare legal documents, such as settlement agreements and minor compromises.
• Conduct legal research to support settlement negotiations and legal strategies.
• Collaborate with practice groups to improve processes and integrate innovative ideas.
• Incorporate Document Generation (Doc Gen) into standard practices and procedures.
• Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and internal team members.

Requirements:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
• Active license to practice law in California.
• 5-7 years of experience in civil litigation, focusing on settlements.
• Prior management experience preferred.
• Proficiency in Adobe and Microsoft Office products.
• Familiarity with E-Discovery tools and legal software like ShareFile, PACER, CaseAnywhere, Lexis, Smart Advocate, Everlaw, FileVine, and OneLegal.
• Detail-oriented, organized, and capable of managing multiple projects under tight deadlines.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
