Job Overview: A law firm specializing in energy law is seeking an experienced Energy Regulatory Associate Attorney to join their Houston office. The ideal candidate will provide legal counsel and support on energy regulatory issues, including market-based rates, market design, generation interconnection, transmission issues, compliance, enforcement matters, and transactional support for energy M&A and financing transactions.

  • Duties:

    • Provide legal advice and counsel on energy regulatory issues, including market-based rate, market design, generation interconnection, and transmission issues.
    • Manage compliance and enforcement matters before FERC, the CFTC, and various exchanges, including conducting investigations and audits and ensuring regulatory compliance.
    • Offer transactional support for energy mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and financing transactions, including due diligence and drafting transactional documents.
  • Requirements:

    • 3-6 years of experience practicing energy regulatory law.
    • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
    • Admission to the Texas State Bar or eligibility for admission by waiver.
    • Strong understanding of FERC regulations and practices.
    • Experience in counseling and administrative litigation related to energy regulatory matters is highly preferred.
  • Certifications:

    • Admission to the Texas State Bar or eligibility for admission by waiver.
  • Skills:

    • Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
