Job Overview:
A law firm based in Cerritos, CA seeks a motivated Associate Attorney to support its specialized education law division. The role centers on representing educational institutions in matters involving students from pre-kindergarten through 12th grade, with a particular focus on disability-related legal frameworks. Duties:

  • Assist senior legal team members with counseling education sector clients on student-related legal matters

  • Conduct in-depth legal research and draft memos, briefs, and communications

  • Prepare for and support representation in hearings before administrative and regulatory bodies

  • Interpret and apply laws such as the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, and state/federal special education mandates

  • Support litigation and compliance matters involving the Office for Civil Rights (OCR), California Department of Education (CDE), and Office of Administrative Hearings (OAH)

  • Stay current with changes in education and disability law impacting public institutions

  • Collaborate across departments to ensure consistent and informed client representation

Requirements:

  • 0–5 years of post-bar legal experience

  • Strong analytical and legal writing abilities

  • Demonstrated interest or coursework in education law, disability rights, or civil rights litigation

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Capacity to manage multiple assignments with shifting priorities

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

  • Active membership in the California State Bar

Certifications:

  • Admission to the California Bar (Required)
