Insurance Coverage Associate Attorney

Job Overview: A law firm specializing in insurance coverage law seeks an experienced Insurance Coverage Associate Attorney to join its team in New York City, NY. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in insurance coverage, risk transfer, and construction insurance matters and a strong background in litigation and legal analysis.

Duties:

• Interpret insurance policies and provide coverage opinions.
• Litigate coverage matters, including motions for summary judgment and appeals on coverage-related issues.
• Handle depositions, court appearances, and litigate declaratory judgment actions.
• Conduct legal research and draft legal documents, including pleadings and briefs.
• Collaborate with partners and clients on case strategy and legal solutions.
• Manage caseload independently and efficiently, ensuring deadlines are met.

Requirements:

• JD degree from an accredited law school with excellent academic credentials.
• 5+ years of experience in insurance coverage law, particularly in risk transfer and construction insurance coverage.
• Admitted and in good standing with the New York Bar; admission to the New Jersey Bar is a plus.
• Proven experience in construction defense and construction defect/property damage practice areas preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to interpret complex insurance policies and apply legal principles to coverage issues.
• Experience drafting coverage opinions, litigating coverage disputes, and handling appeals.
• Strong courtroom presence with experience in depositions, hearings, and motions practice.
• Exceptional legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple deadlines effectively.
• Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
