Job Overview:
A law firm seeks a highly motivated, detail-oriented attorney to join its Chicago-based team. This role focuses on litigation in medical malpractice, nursing home abuse, trucking accidents, and civil rights. The ideal candidate is a skilled advocate with strong organizational capabilities, a proven track record of success in trial settings, and the ability to handle cases from inception to resolution while collaborating with leadership and support staff.

Duties

  • Manage and prosecute cases involving medical malpractice, nursing home abuse, trucking accidents, and civil rights violations.
  • Conduct comprehensive legal research and draft pleadings, motions, and other court documents.
  • Take and defend depositions, including standard-of-care depositions.
  • Advocate for clients effectively in court, including participating in trials.
  • Collaborate closely with senior attorneys and support staff to develop and execute case strategies.
  • Maintain detailed organization of case files and timelines to ensure efficiency and compliance with legal deadlines.
  • Engage with clients to provide updates, guidance, and strategic counsel throughout the legal process.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 7 years of litigation experience.
  • They are licensed to practice law in Illinois (required).
  • Demonstrated experience with trial work, including a record of successful outcomes.
  • Proficiency in taking depositions and drafting high-quality legal documents.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team-oriented environment.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active membership in the Illinois State Bar.

Skills

  • Expertise in medical malpractice and nursing home abuse law (preferred).
