A law firm seeks a Senior Associate Attorney to join its Family Law team in Orlando, FL. This role involves managing and litigating a wide range of family law matters across several counties, including dissolution (both contested and uncontested), child custody disputes, paternity actions, and more. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in family law litigation, with a strong commitment to delivering top-quality representation for clients, while maintaining a positive work-life balance.

Duties:

  • Handle a variety of family law cases, including dissolution, paternity actions, child custody disputes, child support, enforcement, and modifications.
  • Represent clients in court hearings, depositions, and other legal proceedings.
  • Develop case strategies, conduct legal research, and draft pleadings, motions, and briefs.
  • Regularly communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel regarding case updates and strategies.
  • Manage a high-volume caseload with minimal supervision, ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to associate attorneys and paralegals.
  • Ensure compliance with firm policies and procedures.
  • Use office software to manage case files and create legal documents.
  • Maintain a positive, collaborative, and team-oriented office environment.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in family law and civil litigation.
  • Strong trial experience, with a proven track record in handling contested family law cases.
  • Must be licensed and in good standing with the Florida Bar.
  • Ability to travel within the region (Orange, Osceola, Seminole, Brevard, Volusia, Lake, Polk, and Sumter counties) as necessary.
  • Strong organizational skills with a detail-oriented approach.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with fluency in English.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with case management systems like Filevine and Lead Docket.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Must be a member of the Florida Bar in good standing.
  • Board certification in Marital & Family Law is preferred but not required.

Skills:

  • Exceptional ability to multitask and work under pressure.
  • High-level written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in legal research, drafting, and proofreading.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a client-focused approach.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize complex caseloads effectively.
  • Experience in family law litigation with a focus on trial proceedings.
