A law firm seeks a skilled and motivated Workers' Compensation Attorney to join its Baltimore, MD office. The ideal candidate will have 2+ years of experience in workers' compensation defense and employers' liability, and be licensed in Maryland and Pennsylvania. Candidates licensed in other jurisdictions such as Delaware, Washington D.C., Virginia, or West Virginia are encouraged to apply. This position offers a flexible, hybrid work environment with remote work options. The attorney will be expected to commute to the Baltimore office 3 days per week.

Duties:

  • Represent clients in workers' compensation and employers' liability defense matters.
  • Manage a high volume of cases related to workers' compensation claims, including drafting pleadings, motions, and discovery.
  • Conduct legal research and prepare detailed legal analyses to support case strategies.
  • Handle court appearances, depositions, client meetings, and other legal proceedings.
  • Advise clients on compliance with workers' compensation laws and regulations in Maryland and Pennsylvania.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and support staff to ensure efficient case management and timely delivery of services.
  • Communicate regularly with clients to provide updates on case status and strategy.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Active Maryland and Pennsylvania Bar memberships.
  • 2+ years of experience in workers' compensation defense, employers' liability, or related personal injury law.
  • Strong understanding of Maryland and Pennsylvania workers' compensation laws and regulations.
  • Experience handling employer liability claims is a plus.
  • Licensure in additional jurisdictions such as Delaware, Washington D.C., Virginia, or West Virginia is preferred.
  • Strong academic credentials and excellent research, writing, and communication skills.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple cases efficiently.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active Maryland and Pennsylvania State Bar memberships.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in workers' compensation defense and employers' liability law.
  • Excellent legal research and analytical skills.
  • Ability to draft, review, and negotiate complex legal documents.
  • Strong oral advocacy skills, including experience in court appearances and depositions.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively interact with clients and colleagues.
