A law firm seeks an Energy, Environmental & Natural Resources Associate Attorney with 2-5 years of experience to join its growing practice group in Chicago. The ideal candidate will focus on energy regulatory and renewable energy work, with experience in state regulatory proceedings such as rate cases, investigations, and rulemaking. Knowledge of solar incentive programs, power purchase agreements, and retail energy supply contracts is a plus. This position offers the opportunity to work in a collaborative environment with hybrid work options.

Duties:

  • Represent clients in state regulatory proceedings, including rate cases, investigations, and rulemakings.
  • Advise clients on regulatory compliance and approvals for retail energy matters.
  • Draft and negotiate power purchase agreements and community solar contracts.
  • Provide legal counsel on renewable energy projects and solar incentive programs.
  • Conduct legal research and draft memoranda, motions, and other legal documents.
  • Collaborate with legal teams and clients to develop effective strategies for regulatory and energy matters.

Requirements:

  • 2-5 years of experience in energy regulatory or renewable energy law.
  • Experience with state regulatory proceedings, including rate cases and investigations.
  • Familiarity with solar incentive programs, power purchase agreements, and retail energy contracts is a plus.
  • Strong research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Commitment to collegiality, teamwork, and client service.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the Illinois State Bar (or eligibility for admission).

Skills:

  • Proficiency in energy regulatory law and renewable energy contracts.
