A law firm in Niles, MI is seeking an Aerospace and Defense Attorney with a minimum of 3 years of experience in federal government contracts, with exposure to U.S. export controls. The ideal candidate will possess strong advisory skills in A&D matters, drafting legal documents, and representing clients in administrative and court proceedings.

 

Duties:

  • Advise clients on government and commercial contracts pertaining to aerospace and defense
  • Draft legal memoranda, bid protests, REAs, claims, and policy articles
  • Conduct comprehensive legal research on government contracts, subcontracts, and regulatory requirements
  • Demonstrate excellent organizational and project management skills
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with clients and colleagues
  • Utilize legal research services proficiently to support legal analysis and case preparation
  • Represent clients in administrative and court proceedings, including bid protests, claims, and investigations
  • Provide compliance planning and training to clients

 

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in federal government contracts
  • Familiarity with U.S. export controls, including OFAC sanctions
  • Admission to the State Bar of Michigan or the D.C. Bar, or eligibility for admission by anticipated start date
  • Portable book of business is advantageous

 

Education:

Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school

 

Certifications:

Admitted to the State Bar of Michigan or the D.C. Bar, or eligible for admission by anticipated start date

 

Skills:

  • Strong advisory skills in A&D matters
  • Proficiency in drafting legal documents and conducting legal research
  • Knowledge of government contracting regulations, including the FAR, DFARS, and agency FAR supplements
  • Experience in space law and government contracting cost issues is desirable
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment
