Job Title: Probate Attorney

Job Overview: A well-established law firm in Charleston, SC, is actively seeking an experienced Probate Attorney to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity to take on a ready-made caseload of 2,200 probate clients, built over 22 years by a retiring senior partner. As the head of the Probate Division, you will manage simple probate matters, ensuring clients receive top-tier service while enjoying the support of an experienced team. Duties:

  • Oversee and manage probate matters from start to finish, ensuring smooth and efficient processing.
  • Act as the lead attorney for the probate division, handling up to 2,200 existing clients.
  • Provide excellent client service by guiding clients through the probate process with compassion and professionalism.
  • Work closely with a full-time team, including partners and associate attorneys, to provide cohesive legal support.
  • Refer contentious probate cases to qualified litigation attorneys, maintaining focus on simple, non-contentious matters.
  • Maintain and build strong relationships with clients, ensuring their ongoing satisfaction.
  • Participate in internal meetings to review case progress and develop strategies for managing caseloads.
  • Assist in growing the firm’s probate clientele by engaging in occasional community outreach.

Requirements:

  • 1 year of experience in probate law.
  • Strong communication and client-facing skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases effectively and meet deadlines.
  • Compassionate and client-focused approach to legal practice.
  • Willingness to work closely with senior attorneys and other team members.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active South Carolina State Bar membership and SC Law License (Required).
