Associate Attorney with 2+ years of experience

A law firm seeks an Associate Attorney to join its Litigation team in Columbia, SC. This position requires a candidate in good standing with the South Carolina Bar, who possesses strong academic credentials and excellent research and writing skills. The ideal applicant will be capable of working independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.

Duties

• Draft pleadings, motions, discovery documents, and briefs.
• Conduct comprehensive legal research to support case strategies.
• Communicate effectively with clients and opposing parties to resolve or settle claims.
• Manage a diverse caseload from inception to resolution.
• Provide timely updates and reports on case progress.
• Collaborate closely with other attorneys during depositions and court appearances.

Requirements

• A minimum of 2 years of experience, preferably in civil litigation, construction defect, toxic torts, or personal injury.
• Licensed to practice law in South Carolina.
• Strong analytical, research, and writing skills.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage a varied caseload effectively.

Education

• Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Active bar admission in South Carolina.

Skills

• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Familiarity with legal research tools such as WestLaw, iManage, and Juris Suite is a plus.
