A law firm in Phoenix, AZ is seeking an experienced Criminal Defense Attorney to join their team. The attorney will work under the supervision of the Managing Criminal Defense Attorney, managing a caseload, advising clients, and collaborating with a dedicated team of legal professionals to provide effective defense strategies.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage a diverse caseload of criminal defense matters, including client interactions and case management.
  • Advise clients on their legal rights and responsibilities, drafting legal documents as necessary.
  • Attend pretrial hearings, trials, and other court appearances on behalf of clients.
  • Conduct thorough legal research and analysis to prepare effective defense strategies.
  • Draft motions, pleadings, and other legal documents to support case proceedings.
  • Interview witnesses, gather evidence, and prepare clients for depositions.
  • Analyze probable case outcomes based on knowledge of legal precedents and case facts.
  • Manage workload effectively, prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines.
  • Provide legal analysis to clients to determine potential case benefits and risks.
  • Accrue additional evidence and arguments to support clients' defense against prosecution charges.
  • Utilize interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective client relationships.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish preferred to communicate effectively with Spanish-speaking clients and witnesses.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active Bar membership in Arizona; multi-state admissions advantageous.
  • 3+ years of experience practicing criminal defense law, handling complex cases at federal, state, and local levels.
  • Proven track record of successful case management and courtroom experience.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Experience with case management software preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
