A law firm seeks an experienced Patent Agent or Technical Specialist to join its dynamic Intellectual Property Practice Group in Boston, MA. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on a variety of innovative technologies, including mechanical, electrical, and software-related patents. The firm is looking for individuals with excellent communication and problem-solving skills who can collaborate effectively with both internal teams and clients.

Duties

  • Draft and prosecute US and international patent applications in various technology fields (mechanical, electrical, and software).
  • Work closely with patent attorneys and clients to develop strategies for patent prosecution.
  • Perform patentability and freedom-to-operate analyses.
  • Review and evaluate incoming patent disclosures from clients and provide guidance on patent strategy.
  • Manage deadlines and coordinate with foreign counsel for international filings.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Education

  • A degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, computer science, or a related technical field is required. A higher degree (Master's or PhD) is a plus.

Certifications

  • Registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) is required.

Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent technical writing and documentation skills.
  • Proficiency with patent prosecution software and tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary and performance-based bonuses.
  • Comprehensive healthcare plans (medical, dental, and vision).
  • 401(k) retirement plan with firm contribution.
  • Generous paid time off and holidays.
  • Professional development opportunities and continuing legal education (CLE) support.

Dare we say that this mid-sized Boston firm is fun? But truthfully, it is. A full service firm with modest but comfortable offices has some of the most interesting attorneys around. With impressive achievement both inside and outside of the office, these attorneys excel at young ages. For instance, one young lawyer is taking a leadership role in a Boston CLE program. Another is heading a prominent and fun community program. And, importantly, both are valued by the leadership of the firm for their contributions. Interesting clientele have followed, including notable sports teams and Fortune 500s. We believe the best practice areas are bankruptcy and creditor's rights and construction, which will continue to be busy over the next several months and years.

Your information will not be forwarded to any employers at this time. A recruiter will contact you with more information once our internal review of your resume is completed.
