The ideal candidate will provide legal counsel and representation to school district and BOCES clients on capital construction projects. Responsibilities will include drafting and reviewing construction contracts, assisting with bid preparations, and resolving disputes related to capital projects. Location:

Duties:

  • Provide legal counsel to school district and BOCES clients on capital construction projects.
  • Draft and review contracts, including architect and construction management contracts.
  • Assist in the preparation of bid documents and provide guidance on bid awards.
  • Oversee construction administration and project close-out.
  • Resolve disputes arising from capital projects.
  • Work closely with clients to ensure compliance with construction law and regulations.

Requirements:

  • Member of the New York State Bar.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in construction law.
  • Familiarity with AIA Contract Documents.
  • Strong writing, research, and communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively advocate for clients in construction matters.
  • Team-oriented with a collaborative approach to legal practice.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active attorney license in New York.

Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of construction law and contract documents.
