A law firm in San Antonio, TX, is seeking a Staff Counsel for eDiscovery Services to serve as a Team Lead, coordinating communications between lawyers and contract review teams. The role involves performing quality control and various discovery-related tasks, including document summaries, issues analysis, and privilege log creation. The ideal candidate will have a Juris Doctor degree, be licensed in Texas, and possess at least 3 years of document review experience, with strong analytical and communication skills.

Duties:

  • Serve as a Team Lead, coordinating communication between lawyers and contract review teams.
  • Perform quality control (QC) and discovery-related tasks, including key document summaries, issues analysis, chronologies, and privilege log creation.
  • Review, analyze, and code documents for responsiveness, relevancy, confidentiality, issues, and privilege.
  • Participate in initial review trainings and team meetings.
  • Conduct QC reviews of document coding and redactions to ensure accuracy.
  • Coordinate, monitor, and quality check the work performed by first-level reviewers.
  • Identify, escalate, and track questions and issues to lawyers and other practice support professionals.
  • Prepare and edit privilege logs for production.
  • Review and analyze contracts and agreements according to specified criteria.
  • Provide after-hours, overtime, and weekend support as necessary.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA-accredited institution.
  • Licensed and in good standing to practice law in Texas.
  • Preferably 3+ years of document review experience.
  • Strong knowledge of document review platforms.
  • Excellent analytical, problem identification, and resolution skills.
  • Superior attention to detail and a proven dedication to work product quality.
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively under rigorous deadlines.
  • Thorough understanding of attorney-client and attorney work product privilege.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with project managers, lawyers, and other document review attorneys.
  • Capability to work both independently and as part of a team with appropriate supervision.
  • Willingness to provide after-hours, overtime, and weekend support as needed.

Education:

  • JD degree from an ABA-accredited institution.

Certifications:

  • Active license to practice law in Texas.
