Job Overview:
A law firm is seeking a Mid-Level IP Patent Prosecution Attorney to join its growing Intellectual Property Practice Group. The successful candidate will have at least three years of experience in patent prosecution, including patent search, analysis, drafting, filing applications, and portfolio management. Experience in mechanical, biomedical, and medical devices is a plus, while litigation experience is desirable but not required.

Location:

  • Columbia, MD

Duties:

  • Manage patent prosecution for a variety of industries and clients
  • Conduct patent searches and provide detailed analysis
  • Draft and file patent applications with the USPTO
  • Provide portfolio management and intellectual property counseling
  • Collaborate with clients to assess and protect their intellectual property
  • Optional opportunity to participate in IP litigation

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in IP patent prosecution
  • Strong knowledge of patent law and prosecution procedures
  • Experience with mechanical, biomedical, or medical devices (preferred)
  • Litigation experience (preferred, but not required)
  • Excellent client communication and relationship management skills

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, biomedical science, or a related technical field (preferred)

Certifications:

  • Admission to the state bar
  • USPTO registration (required)
