Job Overview:

A prominent law firm is seeking a junior to mid-level Associate Attorney with experience in low-income housing tax credit (LIHTC) transactions to join its growing practice in Baltimore, Maryland. The role involves working closely with partners, associates, and paralegals to close LIHTC transactions for national syndicators and other clients. This position offers significant client interaction and deal responsibility.

Location:

  • Baltimore, Maryland

Duties:

  • Represent clients, including tax credit syndicators, investors, and developers, in LIHTC transactions
  • Draft and review transactional documents related to low-income housing tax credits
  • Provide legal counsel and manage all aspects of LIHTC deals from inception to closing
  • Collaborate with clients, developers, and other transaction parties to ensure smooth and successful transactions
  • Work closely with partners, associates, and paralegals in a supportive and collaborative team environment

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of experience in LIHTC transactional work
  • Previous experience representing tax credit syndicators, investors, or developers in LIHTC deals
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact confidently with clients and stakeholders
  • Highly motivated self-starter with the ability to manage transactions and work independently

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Admission to the Maryland State Bar (or ability to become admitted)

Skills:

  • Expertise in low-income housing tax credit transactions
  • Strong drafting and negotiation skills
  • General tax background (LLM or tax concentration is beneficial but not required)
  • Excellent organizational and project management abilities
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
