A law firm seeks a passionate Associate Attorney to specialize in student services and disabilities law. This role is designed for candidates who are eager to advocate for students from preschool through 12th grade. The successful applicant will collaborate with experienced attorneys and contribute to a diverse range of legal matters affecting educational rights and services.

Duties

  • Support senior associates, of counsel, and partners in handling legal issues related to student services and disabilities.
  • Conduct in-depth legal research and draft clear, concise legal documents.
  • Guide on matters involving special education, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and the Americans with Disabilities Act.
  • Assist clients in navigating student-related litigation and interactions with key regulatory bodies, including the California Office of Administrative Hearings (OAH), California Department of Education (CDE), and the Federal Office for Civil Rights (OCR).
  • Collaborate with team members to develop effective legal strategies tailored to the needs of clients.

Requirements

  • 0-5 years of relevant legal experience, preferably in education law or a related field.
  • Strong research and writing abilities, with attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for effective communication with clients and colleagues.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Admitted to practice law in California and in good standing.
