Immigration Attorney

Job Overview:

A law firm is seeking an Associate Immigration Attorney with a strong background in immigration law and a passion for providing legal support to individuals. The Associate Attorney will report to the Senior Associate Attorney and will be responsible for managing caseloads, client interaction, and contributing to the development of strategic legal solutions.

Duties:

• Explain immigration law concepts and present strategic solutions to clients.
• Represent both non-detained and detained individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA).
• Manage a caseload of immigration cases, ensuring all deadlines and legal requirements are met.
• Conduct intake interviews with detained individuals at detention centers.
• Prepare and file a variety of immigration applications, including family-based petitions and removal defense applications.
• Review immigration applications and adjust them as necessary to ensure compliance and effectiveness.
• Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community organizations regarding changes in immigration law.
• Meet with potential clients for consultations, assessing their immigration needs and determining an appropriate strategy.
• Develop legal strategies and prepare clients and witnesses for court and USCIS testimony.
• Provide legal analysis to determine potential benefits for clients' cases.
• Draft and submit legal briefs for a range of immigration cases.

Requirements:

• 1 to 4 years of experience in immigration law.
• Strong team-oriented approach, with a willingness to collaborate and strategize with other attorneys and legal staff.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients and colleagues.
• Proven ability to manage a caseload and move legal cases forward effectively.
• Experience with family-based petitions, humanitarian cases, EOIR proceedings, detained individuals, citizenship cases, and other USCIS applications.
• Familiarity with case management software is preferred.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Active Bar License in good standing with the state of practice (NV preferred).

Skills:

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• In-depth knowledge of immigration law, including removal defense and family-based immigration.
• Ability to manage and prioritize a caseload.
• Legal research and analysis skills.
• Client-focused with the ability to offer practical solutions.
• Experience with case management software is a plus.
