Local Government Attorney

A law firm in Islamorada, FL, is seeking a dedicated Local Government Attorney with 1-5 years of experience in Local Government Law. The ideal candidate should possess general government experience and analytical skills, along with familiarity with government contracts and procurement, Sunshine and public records laws, government ethics, and local government operations. Strong research and writing skills are considered a plus for this role.

Job Overview: As a Local Government Attorney, the candidate will play a crucial role in providing legal counsel and support to local government entities. This role requires a willingness to commute to the office at least three (3) days a week and the ability to travel throughout the Florida Keys for various government events.

Duties:

• Provide legal advice and counsel to local government clients.
• Draft, review, and negotiate government contracts and procurement agreements.
• Advise on Sunshine and public records laws compliance.
• Address government ethics issues and concerns.
• Assist in matters related to local government operations.
• Conduct legal research and provide analysis on relevant legal issues.
• Prepare legal documents, opinions, and memoranda.
• Represent clients in government-related hearings and proceedings.

Requirements:

• 1-5 years of experience in Local Government Law.
• Familiarity with government contracts and procurement, Sunshine and public records laws, government ethics, and local government operations.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent research and writing skills.
• Willingness to commute to the office at least three (3) days a week.
• Comfortable with regular travel throughout the Florida Keys for government events.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Admission to the Florida Bar.
