Job Title: Litigation Associate Attorney

Job Overview: A law firm located in White Plains, NY, is seeking a dedicated and driven Litigation Associate Attorney. This role requires expertise in various areas of litigation, with a strong emphasis on foreclosure defense, landlord/tenant law, divorce, family law, general litigation, criminal defense, probate, and real estate. The ideal candidate will possess 2-5 years of litigation experience and must be admitted to the New York and Connecticut bars. Fluency in Spanish is preferred. The candidate must be a team player, willing to handle multiple tasks, and committed to growing as a litigation attorney.

Duties:

  • Prepare pleadings, motions, and briefs.
  • Appear in various courts (both in-person and virtually).
  • Manage cases through the entire litigation process.
  • Develop cost-effective litigation strategies for cases.
  • Review new case files and assess coverage issues.
  • Represent clients in diverse legal matters, including but not limited to family law, foreclosure, landlord/tenant issues, and real estate.
  • Handle a high volume of cases while maintaining accuracy and strategic thinking.
  • Work directly with clients, many of whom are Spanish-speaking.
  • Organize and track case statuses, and manage attorney calendars, and court appearances.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis of legal documents.
  • Assist in building and maintaining client relationships.

Requirements:

  • Admitted to the New York State Bar.
  • Admitted to the Connecticut State Bar.
  • 2-5 years of experience in litigation.
  • Experience with foreclosure defense, landlord/tenant law, family law, criminal defense, and real estate law.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines.
  • Strong writing and communication skills.
  • Ability to work directly with clients, particularly Spanish-speaking individuals.
  • Proficiency in legal software and Microsoft Office Suite.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the New York State Bar (required).
  • Admission to the Connecticut State Bar (required).
  • Additional Bar admissions in New Jersey or federal courts are a plus.

Skills:

  • Fluency in Spanish (preferred).
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent organization and time management.
  • Ability to multitask and work under tight schedules.
  • Strategic thinking and attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and virtual meeting platforms (e.g., Zoom, Teams).
