Insurance Coverage Litigation Attorney

A law firm in Santa Ana is seeking an experienced Insurance Coverage Litigation Attorney to join their Product, Tort, and Insurance Litigation Practice Group. The ideal candidate will have 5-7 years of litigation experience in defending insurance coverage and/or extracontractual matters. Strong candidates will demonstrate proficiency in writing coverage opinions, investigating insurance claims, handling written discovery and depositions, drafting pleadings and substantive motions, attending mediations and court appearances, and assisting at trial. The role requires a solid academic background and excellent research and writing skills.

Duties

• Draft comprehensive coverage opinions on complex insurance matters.
• Investigate insurance claims thoroughly to assess coverage and liability.
• Manage written discovery processes, including drafting and responding to discovery requests.
• Take and defend depositions of witnesses and experts.
• Draft and file pleadings, motions, and other substantive legal documents.
• Represent clients in mediations, court appearances, and trials as required.
• Collaborate with clients, adjusters, and experts to develop effective litigation strategies.
• Review and analyze policy language and coverage issues to provide informed legal advice.
• Monitor case progress and provide regular updates to clients and senior attorneys.
• Stay current with developments in insurance law and litigation practices.

Requirements

• 5-7 years of litigation experience focusing on defending insurance coverage and/or extracontractual matters.
• Proven track record in writing coverage opinions and handling complex insurance claims.
• Demonstrated experience with written discovery, depositions, and drafting legal documents.
• Ability to represent clients effectively in mediations, court appearances, and trials.
• Strong academic record and excellent research and writing skills.

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Active Bar License in good standing in California.
