Job Overview:
A well-established law firm is seeking an experienced Banking and Financial Services Attorney to join their team. This position involves representing financial institutions, commercial lenders, creditors, borrowers, and other stakeholders in various banking and financial matters. The ideal candidate will be skilled in complex litigation, commercial finance transactions, and regulatory compliance. A successful candidate will provide strategic legal counsel and effective trial advocacy to clients in a dynamic legal environment.

Duties:

• Advise financial institutions and commercial lenders on complex banking, finance, and regulatory matters.
• Oversee financial lending transactions, including commercial and consumer financing, asset-based loans, and more.
• Structure transactions to safeguard clients' commercial interests and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Negotiate and draft contracts between lenders and borrowers, ensuring all legal aspects are covered.
• Represent clients in complex corporate and consumer bankruptcy cases, debt restructurings, and related litigation.
• Handle and manage commercial and consumer financial services litigation defense.
• Manage litigation matters, including complex legal issues and regulatory enforcement.
• Oversee debt collection matters for financial institutions, commercial lenders, and businesses.
• Provide counsel on state and federal regulations to ensure clients remain compliant.
• Draft and review legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and court filings.
• Conduct legal research on case law, statutes, and regulations pertinent to ongoing cases.
• Supervise paralegals, staff, and junior team members as required.
• Engage in business development and participate in professional organizations.
• Perform other duties as assigned by senior attorneys.

Requirements:

• 3-7 years of relevant experience in Banking and Financial Services law, with a strong interest in finance and regulatory law.
• Preferred: 5+ years of specialized experience, including first-chair trial or complex litigation experience.
• Ability to handle complex legal matters with attention to detail and thorough legal analysis.
• Strong negotiation, persuasion, and communication skills, both oral and written.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a high-paced environment.
• Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
• Good leadership skills, with the ability to take on increased responsibility and supervise team members.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate appropriately.
• Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment and under pressure.

Education:

• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Must be licensed to practice law in Nebraska and Iowa, or eligible to obtain licensure in both states.
