Job Overview:

A law firm is seeking an experienced and motivated Partner to lead its Bakken team in North Dakota. The ideal candidate will have significant expertise in oil and gas law, specifically in title opinions and due diligence. This is a full-time remote position that will involve managing a team of attorneys, supporting revenue targets, and providing top-tier legal services to clients. The position requires a leader with strong project management and client engagement skills.

Location:

  • Columbus, OH

Duties:

  • Team Management: Lead a team of attorneys, overseeing their work, reviewing title opinions, and ensuring quality control on all legal work.
  • Subject Matter Expert: Provide expert legal content, contributing to the firm's marketing efforts.
  • Client Management & Growth: Maintain strong client relationships, deliver excellent client service, and expand the firm's client base by generating new business.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Active license in states within the Bakken play.
  • 10+ years of experience drafting title opinions in North Dakota and conducting due diligence.
  • 5+ years of experience managing clients.
  • 5+ years of providing final review before legal work is submitted to clients.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with legal technology platforms.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize, and follow through on details.
  • Commitment to providing excellent client and employee service.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active bar license in states active in the Bakken play.

Skills:

  • Extensive experience in oil and gas law, specifically in title opinions and due diligence.
  • Leadership and team management.
  • Excellent communication, writing, and editing skills.
  • Ability to handle complex legal matters with precision and attention to detail.
