A law firm located in Washington, DC is seeking a Tax Associate Attorney with 2-6 years of experience specializing in energy tax, tax credits, and partnership tax. The ideal candidate will have a robust background in supporting renewables and energy transition matters, including tax equity, tax credit transfers, project finance, and mergers & acquisitions (M&A). Stellar academic credentials and comparable law firm experience are required.

Duties:

  • Advise clients on complex tax issues related to energy and renewable projects.
  • Provide legal support on tax equity investments, tax credit transfers, and project finance transactions.
  • Assist with structuring and negotiating tax aspects of mergers and acquisitions.
  • Prepare and review tax-related legal documents and agreements.
  • Conduct thorough legal research and analysis on relevant tax laws and regulations.
  • Develop strategies to optimize tax positions and mitigate risks for clients.
  • Collaborate with other attorneys and professionals within the firm on multidisciplinary projects.
  • Represent clients in discussions with governmental agencies regarding tax matters.
  • Stay current with developments in tax law, especially as it pertains to the energy sector.

Requirements:

  • 2-6 years of experience in tax law, with a focus on energy tax, tax credits, and partnership tax.
  • Demonstrated experience with tax equity, tax credit transfers, project finance, and M&A.
  • Proven ability to handle complex legal issues in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Excellent academic credentials, including strong performance in relevant coursework.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the Bar in Washington, DC, or eligibility to obtain admission.

Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of tax law as it relates to energy and renewables.
  • Proficiency in tax-related legal research and analysis.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively.
