Duties:

  • Provide clear explanations of immigration laws and present strategic legal solutions to clients.
  • Represent clients in immigration court and appeals proceedings before the Board of Immigration Appeals.
  • Manage a caseload of immigration cases, ensuring timely progress and communication with clients.
  • Conduct intake interviews with detained individuals at immigration detention centers.
  • Prepare a range of immigration applications, including removal defense, family-based petitions, and naturalization requests.
  • Review and adjust immigration applications and submissions to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, government entities, and community organizations to stay updated on changes in immigration law.
  • Meet with potential clients, assess their immigration needs, and develop strategic plans for their cases.
  • Prepare clients and witnesses for immigration court hearings and USCIS interviews.
  • Conduct legal analysis to identify opportunities for case improvement and beneficial outcomes.
  • Draft and submit legal briefs for a variety of immigration-related matters.

Requirements:

  • 0-3 years of experience in immigration law.
  • Ability to manage a caseload effectively while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to move cases forward and drive results.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.
  • Experience in family-based petitions, humanitarian relief, EOIR, detained cases, and USCIS applications is a plus.
  • Familiarity with case management software is preferred.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in the state of Illinois.
