Senior Litigation Attorney

A law firm in Chicago, IL is seeking an experienced Senior Litigation Attorney to join their team. The ideal candidate will handle a caseload involving personal injury trials, with significant trial experience as first chair. This role requires effective client communication, negotiation skills, and the ability to prepare cases for trial and represent clients in court.

Job Responsibilities:

• Update clients and communicate with insurance companies regarding the status of claims, demands, and offers
• Prepare cases for trial, including conducting legal research, drafting pleadings, and preparing discovery
• Represent clients in court proceedings, including trials, hearings, and mediations
• Conduct depositions and interrogatories
• Evaluate and advise on the settlement value of cases
• Manage and prioritize a caseload effectively
• Collaborate with other attorneys and staff on case strategy and management
• Maintain compliance with legal standards and regulations

Requirements:

• Member of the Illinois Bar and in good standing
• 6+ years of litigation experience, with a focus on personal injury trials
• Demonstrated experience as first chair in 7-10 personal injury trials
• Proven ability to evaluate claims and provide strategic legal advice
• Strong negotiation skills and the ability to achieve favorable outcomes for clients
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Proactive approach to problem-solving and ability to think strategically
• Team-oriented with a collaborative mindset

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

• Active member of the Illinois State Bar Association
