Job Title: Energy Attorney

Job Overview:

An esteemed law firm based in Austin, TX, is seeking an experienced Energy Attorney to join their prominent Energy team. This position offers the opportunity to work with a variety of complex energy regulatory, nuclear, and transactional matters within a collaborative, high-caliber environment.

Duties:

  • Provide comprehensive legal counsel on regulatory matters, particularly in energy and nuclear fields
  • Collaborate on transactional cases related to utility and energy law, ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local regulations
  • Conduct thorough legal research and provide strategic solutions to complex regulatory challenges
  • Represent clients in interactions with state agencies, RTOs/ISOs, and federal agencies on relevant legal issues
  • Draft, review, and revise legal documents, including contracts, reports, and filings, in alignment with firm and client standards
  • Collaborate effectively with internal and external legal teams to achieve high-quality client outcomes
  • Mentor junior associates and support team members on various regulatory and transactional matters as needed

Requirements:

  • 1-7 years of experience in a law firm, state agency, RTO/ISO, utility, or federal agency with a focus on energy regulation, nuclear law, or similar fields
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and resolve regulatory issues within energy sectors
  • Proven analytical, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving abilities with a client-focused approach
  • Capacity to work both independently and collaboratively within a team

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active Bar license in Texas or eligibility for admission to the Texas Bar

Skills:

  • High proficiency in regulatory and transactional energy law
  • Strong research capabilities and attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills for client and team interactions
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills
