Job Title: Immigration Attorney

Job Overview: A law firm in Austin, TX, is seeking a dedicated Immigration Attorney to join their team. The ideal candidate will have 1-4 years of experience in Immigration Law and will be responsible for representing both non-detained and detained individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of immigration concepts, managing a diverse caseload, and strong interpersonal skills.

Duties:

  • Explain immigration concepts and present strategic solutions to clients.
  • Represent non-detained and detained individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals.
  • Manage a workload of cases, ensuring timely and effective handling of each matter.
  • Visit and conduct intakes with detained individuals at detention centers.
  • Prepare various immigration applications, including removal defense and family-based immigration petitions.
  • Review and make necessary adjustments to immigration applications and packets.
  • Present to and collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community-based organizations on changes in immigration law.
  • Meet with potential clients for strategic immigration consultations and develop necessary strategies.
  • Develop case strategies and prepare clients and witnesses for court/USCIS testimony.
  • Provide legal analysis to determine potential case benefits for clients.
  • Prepare and submit legal briefs for various immigration cases.

Requirements:

  • 1-4 years of experience in Immigration Law.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
  • Proven record of moving legal cases forward and managing a caseload effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with fellow associates.
  • Experience with Family-Based Petitions, Humanitarian Relief, EOIR procedures, Legal Writing, Detained Cases, Citizenship, and other USCIS applications.
  • Familiarity with Case Management Software is preferred.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the Bar in Texas or eligibility for admission.

Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of immigration law and procedures.
  • Excellent legal research and writing abilities.
  • Strong organizational and case management skills.
  • Ability to provide strategic legal advice and counsel.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle a high volume of cases.
