A law firm in Boston is currently seeking a Patent Agent (Biological Sciences) to join their team. The ideal candidate will have 2+ years of substantive patent experience and will be responsible for drafting and prosecuting patent applications, conducting patent analyses, and handling various IP matters in the life sciences related to cutting-edge technologies. The Patent Agent (Biological Sciences) will play a key role in patent prosecution and other IP matters in the life sciences domain, focusing on cutting-edge technologies such as gene editing, cellular therapies, antibody-based therapeutics, and molecular diagnostics. The position requires advanced knowledge in biological sciences, excellent communication skills, and the ability to handle responsibilities including IP due diligences, patent litigations, and post-grant proceedings.

 

Job Details:

  • Draft and prosecute patent applications
  • Conduct patent validity, non-infringement, and freedom-to-operate analyses
  • Handle IP due diligences, patent litigations, and post-grant proceedings
  • Specialize in life sciences and cutting-edge technologies
  • Focus on gene editing, cellular therapies, antibody-based therapeutics, and molecular diagnostics

 

Requirements:

  • Advanced degree (Ph.D. preferred, or M.S. with several years of industry experience) in the biological sciences (e.g., Biology, Molecular Biology, Cellular Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics, Immunology, Virology).
  • Registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Superior academic background
  • The desire for teamwork, significant responsibility, and client interaction
  • 2+ years of substantive patent experience; three to five years of experience preferred.
