Job Overview:

A prominent law firm is seeking an experienced Environmental Law Partner to join their well-regarded environmental practice. The firm is known for its expertise in handling complex environmental legal matters and working with clients in a variety of industries, including real estate, manufacturing, and renewable energy. This role involves providing strategic advice, navigating regulatory frameworks, and collaborating with a team to deliver excellent legal services to clients.

Duties:

  • Advise clients on the environmental aspects of high-value transactions such as mergers, acquisitions, and corporate restructurings.
  • Draft and negotiate environmental provisions, including representations, warranties, indemnities, and covenants.
  • Provide strategic regulatory guidance related to environmental compliance and permitting.
  • Conduct thorough environmental due diligence for business transactions.
  • Counsel clients on pre- and post-transaction environmental compliance.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, clients, environmental consultants, and government agencies to address and resolve environmental regulatory matters.
  • Deliver high-quality work and maintain effective communication with clients and team members.
  • Engage in problem-solving and creative legal strategies within the environmental sector.
  • Continuously enhance skills and knowledge in environmental law, seeking out opportunities for professional development.
  • Foster strong relationships with clients and colleagues within the firm.
  • Participate in business development activities and networking opportunities.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in environmental law, specifically in real estate and corporate transactions.
  • Experience working across diverse industries, including manufacturing, real estate, and renewable energy.
  • Proven ability to manage complex environmental legal matters with a track record of success.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills, especially when managing multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and communication skills (both written and verbal).

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Licensed attorney in good standing in Michigan, Illinois, or Washington, DC (or eligible for admission via waiver into these jurisdictions).

Skills:

  • Deep knowledge of environmental law and regulations.
  • Strong contract drafting and negotiation skills, particularly in environmental matters.
  • Strategic thinking and regulatory compliance expertise.
  • Excellent client management and relationship-building abilities.
  • High attention to detail and ability to multitask efficiently.
