Job Overview:
A reputable law firm in Newport Beach, CA, is seeking a full-time Trusts, Estates & Probate Attorney. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of four years of experience in estate planning, special needs planning, trust administration, probate, or conservatorships. This position offers the opportunity to work in a supportive, collaborative environment while handling significant cases from start to finish. The role involves working closely with the firm's owner and senior attorneys, as well as managing a team of legal assistants and paralegals. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, and passionate about providing exceptional legal services to clients.

Location:

  • Newport Beach, CA

Duties:

  • Review and revise legal documents related to probate law, including accounting petitions, petitions for instructions, and conservatorship petitions
  • Oversee trust administrations, probate cases, and conservatorships through all stages
  • Address probate notes and tentative rulings by providing supplements when necessary
  • Collaborate with the owner and senior associate attorney to ensure cases progress efficiently
  • Supervise paralegals, legal assistants, and law clerks by assigning duties and overseeing their work
  • Conduct initial consultations and meetings with clients to assess their legal needs
  • Maintain strong client relationships through regular, clear communication
  • Represent clients in court hearings
  • Coordinate with the billing department to ensure invoices are accurate and dispatched promptly

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in estate planning, special needs planning, trust administration, conservatorships, or probate
  • Active license to practice law in California
  • Ability to handle cases and clients independently after an orientation period
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in using MS Office Suite, timekeeping software, and case management systems
  • High emotional intelligence and empathy towards clients, particularly in sensitive situations
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in California
