Location:

Duties:

  • Explain complex immigration law concepts and present strategic solutions to clients
  • Represent clients in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA)
  • Manage a caseload of immigration cases and maintain effective client communication
  • Conduct intake interviews with detained individuals at detention centers
  • Prepare and submit a variety of immigration applications, including removal defense and family-based petitions
  • Review immigration applications and packets, ensuring all necessary adjustments are made
  • Work with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community organizations on changes in immigration law
  • Meet with potential clients for consultations and determine the appropriate immigration strategy
  • Develop case strategies and prepare clients and witnesses for court or USCIS testimony
  • Provide legal analysis to determine possible benefits or risks in clients’ cases
  • Prepare and submit legal briefs for a range of immigration-related cases

Requirements:

  • 1 to 4 years of experience in immigration law
  • Ability to work collaboratively and strategize with a team of attorneys and legal assistants
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proven track record of advancing legal cases and managing a caseload
  • Experience with family-based petitions, humanitarian cases, EOIR, detained cases, citizenship, and other USCIS applications
  • Familiarity with case management software preferred

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
  • Admission to practice law in Texas

Certifications:

  • Bar admission in the state of Texas

Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of immigration law and procedures
  • Strong legal writing, research, and analytical skills
  • Excellent client communication and counseling abilities
  • Case management and organizational skills
  • Proficiency with legal software and technology
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred
