Job Title: Supervising Attorney - EOIR

Job Location: Los Angeles, CA

Job Overview:
A prominent law firm is seeking a Supervising Attorney to lead its EOIR department, ensuring quality client representation and adherence to ethical standards. This position involves overseeing a team of attorneys and support staff, managing case workflows, and maintaining high levels of performance across the department. The Supervising Attorney will drive departmental growth, mentor junior attorneys, and collaborate with leadership to streamline operations.

Duties:

  • Lead strategic initiatives to expand the EOIR department
  • Supervise and mentor attorneys and support staff, dedicating 50% of the time to direct supervision
  • File E-28 as the primary attorney for all relevant cases
  • Review, analyze, and edit cases to ensure the highest standard of legal work
  • Manage and schedule court appearances, ensuring appropriate coverage
  • Monitor attorney performance, including key performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Address client satisfaction concerns, including managing online reviews and refunds
  • Conduct legal research in both federal and state law areas
  • Collaborate with other department heads to enhance operational efficiency
  • Oversee HR-related tasks, including hiring, performance evaluations, and time-off requests

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years practicing Immigration law
  • Licensed to practice law in California
  • 1+ years of experience in a supervisory capacity (preferred)
  • Strong customer service and client relations skills
  • Experience with Defensive and Affirmative Asylum cases, BIA Appeals, and Motions to Reopen and Reconsider

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in California

Skills:

  • Excellent leadership and mentoring abilities
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • In-depth knowledge of immigration law, including EOIR-specific procedures
  • Ability to effectively manage a legal team
  • Strong research and analytical skills
  • Proficiency in case management and court deadlines
