The attorney will work directly with the Supervising Attorney and manage a diverse caseload, including post-conviction relief cases. Duties:

  • Provide legal counsel to clients regarding their rights and draft necessary legal documents related to their cases
  • Handle post-conviction relief cases, including motions to vacate, expungements, motions to reduce sentences, and early termination of probation
  • Collaborate with attorneys specializing in both criminal and immigration law, with a preference for candidates with experience in immigration law
  • Represent clients in motion hearings, offering advice and strategies following each hearing
  • Assist in managing criminal cases, including arraignments, pre-trials, pleas, and sentencing
  • Conduct legal research, interview clients, and draft motions as part of daily responsibilities
  • Assess case outcomes based on legal precedents and provide strategic legal advice
  • Maintain a manageable caseload and ensure effective case management

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in criminal defense or immigration law
  • Hands-on experience managing criminal cases at the state and local levels
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with a team
  • Fluency in English and Spanish is preferred
  • A proactive and solution-oriented approach to legal challenges
  • Ability to maintain high standards of professionalism and client relations

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in California
