A law firm seeks an experienced and dedicated Employment Litigation and Advice Associate for their Des Moines, IA office. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated attorney to join a growing team that offers diverse work in employment law, including litigation and advisory roles for employers. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in handling employment law matters and be eager to contribute to the success of the firm's clients through strategic legal guidance and representation.

Duties

  • Provide employment law advice to employers on a variety of issues, including wage and hour, employee relations, and workplace policies.
  • Respond to and handle employment-related disputes, including agency responses and employment litigation.
  • Draft and review employment-related agreements, including contracts, non-compete clauses, and employee handbooks.
  • Represent employers in legal proceedings such as administrative hearings, arbitrations, and trials.
  • Develop and deliver training and compliance programs on employment law topics for clients.
  • Maintain and strengthen client relationships through regular communication and strategic legal guidance.

Requirements

  • 3-6 years of experience in employment law, including litigation, compliance, and providing legal advice to employers.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build effective client relationships.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Experience in agency responses, litigation, and drafting employment agreements and policies.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active attorney license in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
  • Ability to obtain admission to the Iowa State Bar promptly if not already licensed in Iowa.

  • Litigation: Proven ability to manage litigation cases from initiation through resolution.
