Patent Agent

Job Overview: A law firm in San Francisco, CA, is seeking a Patent Agent registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. The ideal candidate will possess 5+ years of patent prosecution experience and hold a Ph.D. or M.S. in a relevant technical field.

Duties:

• Conduct prior art searches for patentability and freedom to operate analyses.
• Analyze patents and scientific papers to assist with patent preparation, prosecution, and counseling.
• Provide technical expertise in areas such as cellular biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics, immunology, virology, chemistry, organic chemistry, and pharmacy.
• Collaborate with attorneys to draft patent applications and responses to office actions.

Requirements:

• Registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
• 5+ years of patent prosecution experience.
• Ph.D. or M.S. in cellular biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics, immunology, virology, chemistry, organic chemistry, pharmacy, or equivalent discipline.
• Broad technical knowledge in biological and/or pharmaceutical sciences.
• Excellent academic record.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.

Education:

• Ph.D. or M.S. in a relevant technical field.

Certifications:

• Registration to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

Skills:
