A law firm seeks a skilled Litigation Associate to join its Labor & Employment team in Hermosa Beach, California. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years of civil litigation experience and a strong interest in handling a diverse range of labor and employment cases. This role offers the opportunity to work on both single-plaintiff employment litigation and large-scale wage & hour class actions, representing sophisticated clients on cutting-edge legal issues.

Duties:

  • Manage a diverse caseload of labor and employment-related disputes, including wage & hour class actions and individual employee litigation.
  • Advise clients on a variety of employment law matters, such as wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment, and wage and hour issues.
  • Draft legal documents, including motions, pleadings, discovery requests, and settlement agreements.
  • Conduct legal research and provide detailed analysis of employment law issues.
  • Participate in client meetings and offer strategic legal advice to businesses and individuals.
  • Engage in all phases of litigation, including discovery, depositions, and court appearances.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys on complex legal strategies and case management.
  • Assist in business development efforts and maintain client relationships.
  • Participate in training and mentorship programs to continue professional development.

Requirements:

  • At least two years of civil litigation experience, with a focus on labor and employment law preferred.
  • Experience in handling wage & hour class action cases is highly desirable.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to draft legal documents and present complex issues.
  • Excellent research and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases, meet deadlines, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • A client-focused approach with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team setting.
  • Must be licensed to practice law and in good standing with the California State Bar.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the California State Bar.

Skills:

  • Knowledge of federal and state labor and employment laws, including wage and hour regulations.
  • Strong litigation skills, including experience with depositions, motions, and court appearances.
  • Experience drafting legal documents such as pleadings, discovery responses, and settlement agreements.
  • Detail-oriented, with strong organizational skills.
  • Proficient in legal research and case management tools.
  • Ability to develop and maintain client relationships.
